about

Horizon is a driving, cinematic rock song with dreamy guitar parts, crashing symbols and a strong, cutting vocal delivery that's moody, melodic and dripping with melancholy. The lyrics marry slice-of-life vignettes in the verses that build up to a soaring chorus that celebrates the quiet victory of choosing to be alone in pursuit of a better life. The outro gives way to a beautiful cascade of layered guitar parts that the listener can get lost in. This single marks the rebirth of Hi Ho.

lyrics

God is dead on the boardwalk
But I can still smell the moonlight
Shapeshift at the horizon
Swallowed up in stormy skies

Grave mistakes near the train yard
A quiet car and a fifth of Beam
Am I used to the poison?
Can you please turn off these dreams?

There’s a glow where the sea meets the sky
The storms ahead dust the horizon line
And there’s no one left to say
“You’re alright”
Thought I heard you walk away
But it was me who couldn’t stay
